Last night (20th feb) some person/s cut the padlock bolt on our field gate, and took the gate. It was a steel heavy duty 5 bar gate. I arrived at the field this morning to find no gate - and no pony in field.
After ringing the police I was informed that someone had found ‘a pony’ wandering the roads and had taken it to the local stables (at 1.42am). Upon going to the stables I thankfully found my pony.
I think the culprits probably didnt realise there was a pony in the field, but left to roam you can imagine what the consequences could have been.
Please all, do go and check your fields regularly, and if you can reverse the gate hinges so that the gate cant just be lifted off, then do so.
If anyone hears of or knows of a 2nd hand but in good nick gate that has just ‘appeared’ somewhere, I would be very appreciative to know.
Thanks you. Nicky Cantello - Hon. Secretary
